September 2022 Librarian of the Month

Every month ByWater Solutions recognizes a librarian that has made an impact on their library and community. We are happy to announce the September 2022 Librarian of the Month is Kate Sheehan, Head of Information Technology Services at the Stratford Library Association in Stratford, Connecticut.

Kate was nominated by Geri Diorio, Assistant Library Director at the Stratford Library Association, who commented:

Kate is the head of our Information Technology Department. She's been at Stratford Library for four and a half years and it is not and exaggeration to say that she has technologically transformed Library in that time. She shepherded our migration to Koha in her first year here and just last winter, she oversaw the Library's transition to fine free.Throughout these huge changes, Kate has remained patient, good-natured, and an excellent teacher to her co-workers. She created stellar training materials to help the staff learn to do things in new ways.

Kate was key in Stratford Library obtaining a PEGPETIA technology grant from the State of Connecticut. With that money we were able to transform the internet backbone of our building and expand our WIFI services beyond our walls.

When Covid-19 hit, Kate got our staff and patrons comfortable with Zoom, brought in a new calendar reservation program, and got patrons and staff up and running with Chromebooks and hotspots.

Because of her vision for library services, intelligence, enthusiasm, and cheerful demeanor, Kate Sheehan should be ByWater's Librarian of the Month."
